EFCC Arrests 117 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 117 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos. The suspects were arrested at Regional Hotel, Iyana-Ishasi, Lagos in a sting operation, following verified intelligence about their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud. Items recovered from the suspects, at the point of arrest, include mobile phones, laptop computers and four cars. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded. Man bags ten jailed term for internet fraud in Kwara

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentence of ten fraudsters to various jail terms for internet fraud. Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, on Monday, convicted and sentenced five persons to various jail terms. The convicts are Sodiq Shehu, Ayinla Abdulwaheed Ayomide, Abdulkareem Omotosho, Ekundayo Stephen Samuel and Ayinla Sofiu Abayomi. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said its operatives, during an operation in Edo State, uncovered a shrine, guarded by a snake, being used for storing illicit drugs. The NDLEA added that its operatives discovered a specially constructed large hole in a wall, hidden behind wallpapers and fetish objects used for drug storage. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said its operatives at the Port Harcourt Zonal Command have arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters. A statement by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Friday, said the suspects were arrested during a sting operation carried out at Whimpey, Ada George area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. A 26-year-old lady, Xoliswa Radebe, was murdered allegedly by her boyfriend in South Africa a week after her graduation from the university. A Nigerian man, Olubunmi Abodunde, who beat his wife to death with their son's skateboard has been jailed for life in the United Kingdom.  Recall that Abodunde, 48, and Taiwo Abodunde, 41, moved to the UK from Nigeria with their children in 2022. Taiwo got a job as a health care assistant nurse at a care home in Cambridge while her husband, who had trained as a civil engineer, was unable to find work in his profession.
