The National Agency for Food and Drug Control NAFDAC has closed three unregistered bakeries and a sachet water factory in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. These facilities, operating in makeshift structures with poor hygiene standards, posed serious health risks to consumers.

The operation led by the State Coordinator for Rivers State, Pharm. Emmanuel Onogwu, was prompted by tips from concerned citizens and thorough investigations. The unregistered bakeries, located in Rmuoparali and Mgbuoba areas, were found to be operating in unsanitary conditions, including the use of a generator inside the production room.

NAFDAC in a statement released said the closure of these establishments underscores its unwavering commitment to upholding public health standards and cracking down on unscrupulous producers. Pharm. Onogwu urged the public to continue providing valuable information to NAFDAC, facilitating the Agency’s efforts to ensure the safety and quality of regulated products.
